Prof. Michael Krohn

Head | MA Design and Field of Excellence Product, ZHdK
Prof. Krohn is a Product designer HfG and a professor in hgkz/ZHdK since 1998. He is a coowner of FORMPOL AG, Zürich, and working as an industrial designer since more than ten years. Before his professorship, his occupation concerned the design research and the integration of new mediums in the design process. Besides leading the Field of Excellence of Industrial Design in ZHdK, he is also a guest lecturer at ETHZ and ZHWIN. Krohn is the head of the Design Master Program in ZHdK and was a Board Member in CUMULUS, the International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media.

Scientific researcher | The DfD Project
Lina is a Sudanese Product designer, currently living and working as a UX, Product designer in Zurich, Switzerland. Lina completed a Master of Arts in Design (Product Design) at Zurich University of the Arts -ZHdK in 2015 and a Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Khartoum in 2010. Her research orientation concerns about the application of participatory research methods (e.g., design ethnography) in the design research and programming stages in Sub Saharan Africa, namely Sudan. In January 2017, she initiated the DfD project with the mentoring of Zurich University of the Arts, Department Design.

Dr. Francis Müller
Ethnographer and Cultural Sociologist | Lecturer - ZHdK
Dr. Francis Müller works as lecturer for Ethnography in the Bachelor and Master of Arts in Design in Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Besides, he is a lecturer at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University St. Gallen (HSG), in the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and in the University of Liechtenstein. He did ethnographic fieldwork about landmine victims and physical disability in Angola, about Ghanaian and Swiss Pentecostals in Zurich and actually about material culture in Mexican religion.

Urbanist, Researcher | The DfD project - Sudan
Tasneem Nagi is an Urban Researcher based in Khartoum, Sudan. Her interests revolve around urban politics and marginalized urban communities. Currently lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Khartoum, her research focuses on African urbanism(s) through postcolonial and decolonial lenses. She has contributed to projects towards the advancement of urban poor populations' rights in Sudan, UK, Italy, and Cambodia. She holds a B.Sc. in Architecture from the University of Khartoum (2012) and an M.Sc. in Building and Urban Design in Development from University College London (2015).
